DrawZal presentation helpers
Presentation helpers support your talk beyond drawing: a name caption at the bottom of the screen (Lower Third), countdown timers you type as text, a click effect and cursor highlight that show where you click and point, and fixed badges with labels you choose.

How do I show a lower third?
ProChoose "Lower Third" in the menu bar menu or the ⋯ menu to show a title and subtitle caption at the bottom left of the screen, a good place for your name and role. While drawing, ⌘L also shows and hides it.
The caption stays until you turn it off. It remains on screen when you stop drawing, switch to Ghost Mode, or use another app, and clicks pass through it to the app underneath.
Edit the text right away with "Edit Lower Third…" in the menu. Settings › Lower Third has the title, subtitle, and accent color, and the text starts as "Your Name" and "Your Title". Leave the subtitle empty to show only the title.
How do I show a countdown timer?
ProType a time such as 15:00 or 1:00:00 with the text tool and press ↩. It becomes a timer that counts down from the moment you finish typing.
| You type | Timer |
|---|---|
| 15:00 | 15 minutes, counting down from 15:00 |
| 5:30 | 5 minutes 30 seconds, shown as 05:30 |
| 1:00:00 | 1 hour, shown as 1:00:00 |
| 90:00 | 90 minutes, shown as 1:30:00 |
| 15, 15:0, 15:60, 0:00 | Not a timer; it stays as text |
Use two parts (minutes:seconds) or three (hours:minutes:seconds) separated by colons. Every part after the first must be two digits under 60.
At zero, a red 00:00 blinks and stays until you clear it. Timers don’t fade even with Fade on, and Selective Clear (⌥⌫) keeps them by default.
How do I show where I click and point?
The click effect shows a ring in the current color where you click, so your audience never loses track of your hand. It is on from the start, and it also shows when you click other apps in drawing mode and Ghost Mode. Drags don’t show it.
Cursor highlight draws a yellow circle around the pointer so it is easy to find. It is off at first.
Turn either one on and off with "Click Effect" and "Cursor Highlight" in the menu bar menu and the ⋯ menu, or in Settings › General › Display. Neither shows after you stop drawing and DrawZal leaves the screen.
How do I use fixed badges and the badge counter?
ProWhile drawing, press ⌃1 … ⌃0 to stamp a badge with a preset label at the pointer. The labels start as 1 to 10, and you change them in Settings › Text & Badges › "⌃1 … ⌃0 Badge Text". An empty label stamps nothing, and a long label stretches the badge into a pill.
⌃= stamps the counter’s number and adds 1, and ⌃- stamps it and subtracts 1 (it never goes below 1). ⌘0 sets the counter back to 1. This counter is separate from the numbers of ⌥-click badges.
Badges don’t fade even with Fade on, and Selective Clear keeps them by default.
